i am waiting on letter too. My son arrived late (11:30pm) 1/6. His recruiter gave me ship and PIR info. Hopefully the official letter comes in the mail today!

I received my form letter yesterday. My daughter arrived in GL on the 7th.

Just curious to see how many people have received their form letter. I haven't yet and we live in the St. Louis, MO area. No idea if that matters but I'm going crazy not hearing anything from my hubby.

We are flying southwest, really good deal plus a room at the SpringHill. I heard plenty of good things are the Gurnee area. My son is in ship 13/Div 095!!! Go Navy Sailors

my SR is flying out for A school in San Antonio so i expect he will leave Saturday. We are most likely flying Southwest to Midway (it is the least $$$) so i am not sure we could see him on Saturday anyway. We are planning a late afternoon/early eve flight out. We are staying at Navy Lodge. I know most rental car co's make you pay a deposit (equal to rental cost) with only a debit card. I am trying to avoid as much added expense as I can as it is already a challenge coming up with funds! We are also concerned with weather and driving. I am still thinking about all of this...even with Sarge's cost of $159 and a rental car in town for maybe $100, that is still a pretty good deal w/less gas and traffic hassle. Thanks for all the suggestions- keep them coming!

Hi Everyone -

I will be there on the 27th too!! Can't wait to see my sailor again! We have a room at the Sleep Inn in Waukegan.  I think it was about $350 for 4 nights and has a free breakfast.  Can I mention ship # and Div # here to see if anyone else is with my son?

turksmom,

Enterprise Rent-A-Car takes debit cards~~  Our rental car costed $124.00 for Thursday to Saturday.  A roundtrip (from airport to your hotel and back to the airport at the end of your trip) via Sarge's shuttle from the airports is $99 from O'Hare and $157 from Midway.  Plus if your SR is flying out to A school, that's another roundtrip fee to an airport~~
