OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I don't expect to hear much from my SR but that's okay, at least he can hear from his mama and know how proud I am of him.  It's almost Friday, girls! The days are going by faster than I anticipated.

thanks a lot I love this website you find out anything

I have only talked to my son for 1 minute so far. I missed his first call. I know that he talks to his friends, so he must be running low on minutes. His friend was smart enough to buy him a phone card.

I have written everyday, since I received his address last week. When the mail doesn't run, I just save it for the next day.

I totally agree, typing him a letter is the best way.

you can only send a personal message if the person your sending to is your friend...if their profile is not set to private, you have an option of posting a comment on their wall or sending them a friend request with a personal message in it

can someone tell me how to  send a personal message

and Lala...that is a really neat picture, it is just unfortunate it took a fire to get it

Sunshine66...your very welcomed, and your like my sister now..:)  Anyways, they get mail daily (once someone has been trained on mail distribution) that can take up to 2 weeks. then they can write letters back on Sundays until 1300 hours or on a holiday standown day...for those like you and I in the 900 divisions, their free time is more structured and they still have ironing to do and boots to polish and practices to attend...I have no expectations at all, and if I can just find out from my SR what the role is in the 917 division, I will be happy

Did you all see the new about a warehouse in Chicago burning? The fire Dept put the fire out but because it was so cold the water turned to ice and made the building look like an ice palace.

I finally got my son some mail on the way (thanks to KylesMom!) Did I read somewhere that they only get mail once or twice a week at first? I read so much and then can't remember where I read it!
