Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

see diannep...I am all about knowledge is power and if it keeps me occupied to continue to learn so I can understand and offer the best support to my own SR...I will also hope to learn enough so I can stick around and help the many that will walk in my shoes someday!!  I am a true believer in paying it forward, and I am thankful there are Moms like you that stayed around and guided all of us and continue to help

KylesMom:  Thanks for confirming the zip code info.  There are several divisions housed in each ship, so it makes sense that the 4 digits will direct the mail right to that division.

Oh, and on you all knowing something the SRs don't?  Believe me...after we finish pumping you all with the info we know, you will be informing your SRs of many things they don't know!  Many will ask you:  How did you know that???  Be sure to reply:  Silly boy/girl, N4Moms, of course!  :-)

One caution:  Somtimes the SRs are told that they will not be allowed to have family meet them at the airports.  Or....they may be told the airport personnel doesn't want the families to come.  This is so NOT true.  The airports welcome their sailors/families.

When this was told to the SRs/sailors who were up there shortly after there was a terrorist event in our nation, we thought maybe there was increased security and they really weren't allowed to meet families at the airports.  But when we checked, all was ok.

Yeah look at it this way Stephanie...we know something our SR's don't...and it will be the only time that will be the case too...LOL  I am not that good, but more than happy to help out

Question: some one had posted a facebook site to possibly view pictures of div 916 pics, and for the life of me I can't find it. Been all over the various sites to no avail. Could someone pleaassee post the site again..desperate for a possible kid fix. thank you

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on January 23, 2013 at 4:43pm

oh and PS:  I am NOT calling them anymore...LOL  I feel like Sherlock Holmes as it is trying to decipher all these differences for some of us in different Divisions yet all having the same PIR date...:)  But Yay, now we can have 4 people attend not just 3...:)

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on January 23, 2013 at 4:41pm

Ok Kids...I just called and asked....they are in fact allowed to have 4 guests, and the SR doesn't even know that fact.  They said to write to your SR and tell them that they are permitted to add a fourth name and to turn the 4th person's name is ASAP.  They even suggested to explain to the SR that the TG (training group) stayed smaller and they may have been told 3 guests, when in fact they can now add the 4th person

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!  Moms are really good at two things: worrying and asking questions :)

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on January 23, 2013 at 4:23pm
