Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ok everyone....I did talk to Public Affairs at RTC and was told to follow the plus 4 on your "official letter". They said the addresses posted on their page is general plus 4 zipcodes but the one that was sent to you in your letter applies and identifies the ship/building the mail is going to!! They did say it would get there is you used the address on their page, but to be sure it is directed without delay...USE the plus 4 zip code as stated by your SR on your "official letter"

I'm thinking that the RDCs may have told some of the divisions, in error, that they only allow 3 guests. Maybe they didn't realize it all depends on how many divisions are in a PIR group,

recieved form letter yesterday. was excited but got disapointed when my son had no lines to write on. although he did call with the security questions talked to my husband very breif, but did manage to say all was good so happy to hear that we miss him very much. although i have done this before with my older son it is not any easier. my letter says 3 guests can any one confirm 3 or 4 very confusing.

hey sunshine66, my son's PIR is 3/8 as well...hang in there. I got the call the night he arrived, but also sent him with two calling cards (he's not called as of yet). I received his box of personals about a week later and last week got the letter. I have called his recruiter and got his address. I am still waiting for a letter, but have already mailed 6 to him, which he should be getting soon. I also saw on a website, that they would not receive mail for atleast two weeks. Hang in there and I pray you get your letter soon :)!
