~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

KylesMom - We will be creating DIVISION DISCUSSIONS in a day or two. We were waiting for the "official" from RTC and for the GROUP to be well established to do so.

Once they are created we will post the info. The DIVISION DISCUSSIONS will be located just up above here on this PIR GROUP.

also, anything your SR wants you to bring for them to have (ie cell phones other clothes, electronics etc) will have to be given to them after PIR and after they check in at A school.  Anything they bring back to base has to fit in their black bag, and they cannot have anything unless they are checked into A school first

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on January 22, 2013 at 5:01pm

CPfaff...from all that I have learned, once PIR is complete, all the SR's will be granted liberty, BUT, they also maybe scheduled for work like watch duty...they will have to go check into A school that day, and will have to be back on base that evening.  They will let you know what they can and cannot do and if they are scheduled to work.  I am pretty sure I am correct

congrats Mocha!!!!!  I am sure you are on cloud 9....ride that high and see you very soon in IL

My husband is attending A school in Great Lakes, does anyone know how much time we will have with him before he goes after graduation?

You are now officially:

TG 17 - 10 Divisions (105-112, 916 and 917) Graduate Friday, Mar. 8, 2013. Each recruit will be permitted 4 guests.

...as per RTC Websites Upcoming Graduation Page.

Congratulations!

I have a question for FTLW, Lala, ellen, Betsy.....I have seen other PIR groups that you all have graciously started, but they all have sub-groups for different Divisions...will you be creating those for this PIR page as well??

Thanks for the suggestions ladies.  I hate to nag the recuiters but I'm going to call again this afternoon and ask for the other petty officer.  I know he can't call yet because I haven't been able to mail the calling card yet but I'd just like to get the letter so I can mail him and go ahead and make my reservations.  I'm not certain he'll PIR 3/8 until I see it in writing.  I'm just sad that my son isn't getting letters from home like many of the others.  Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day.  I really appreciate all the support.  Navy Moms are awesome!!!

Comment by CatMom509 on January 22, 2013 at 4:15pm

Sunshine66,  Are there other recruiters or maybe the Chief in that NRC (Naval Recrutiing Center) who can check for you?  I'm thinking your recruiter is not on top of things, unfortunately, or maybe he's really new to the assignment..  Give them a call and whoever answers, ask them if they could look it up for you. (hopefully, your son's recruiter won't be in the office.)

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on January 22, 2013 at 4:05pm

Sunshine, I know of one other person still waiting on the letter too, arrived same time as your SR.  But, I may have another suggestion for you....IF you have your SR's paperwork that has the recruiter info on it, take that paperwork to another recruiting office and see if they can find your SR in the system.  I know my SR's original recruiter said they had no info for me, but the recruiter who ended up taking him into MEPS actually called me and told me where my SR was....just a thought
