~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good morning -

Mollysmom- congrats on the long time with SR.  I will be coming in Weds.  Supposed to be flying in at 10 am but with the snow coming on Tuesday, not sure what will happen.  Fingers are crossed, no hiccups.

Does anyone know a good pizza joint in the area?  My SR said he wanted Chicago deep dish. Does anyone know a good Japanese restaurant in the area?

My plan is to use Sarge for all of my driving needs. I know it sounds pricey, but renting a car for the whole time is about the same cost and this way I don't have to worry about driving.

We are almost there - I can't contain the emotions, my husband is looking forward to this - he thinks I will be less insane once we get to see our son graduate lol

diannep....you have eased my mind because you know the following PIR BS dates, otherwise it would not be good news!!!!

Comment by diannep on March 4, 2013 at 8:54am

MyKidsInNavy:  There is usually a BattleStations group going on Thurs nights from the next PIR group...not always, but most times.  So it is very rare for a SR to pass the PFA on Wed morning and not be able to go through BattleStations before PIR.  Yes, I have the BattleStations dates for the next PIR group and they will be going on Thurs night, so this group is safe as far as none missing PIR because there is no BattleStations group to go through with.

Good Morning All!

Hmmm, CatMom.  Not familiar with Sarge's prices other than PIR Shuttle in the morning which is $3/pp as the other shuttles are, I think....although I think if he takes people from the airport, he does the PIR shuttle for free?

When we dropped off our sailor (back in 2010), we went through the Buckley gate (had gate pass) and were able to drive onto base and pull into parking lot near NEX with him.  Thought he would want to visit a little longer, but it was 45 minutes before "curfew" and he wanted to get walking to his ship (takes a while for them to get there).  In the Navy, they learn really quickly that if you are "on time, you are late!"

You can also drop them at the gate and they can walk from there...just a further walk for them.  I'm not sure if the gate drop off has changed, but your sailor will know.  You can always ask when you check in with security on PIR morning.

As far as Sarge's price, he would be competitive (probably cheaper though) with other taxis in the area.  Hoping that someone else on this site would be willing to take your sailor back with them to base...maybe you could ride with them?  Gives you a few extra minutes!

Diannep,

I looked around at the PIR Reference page and didn't see where do we drop off our Sailor if we have to drop them off at the RTC to report back around 7 - 8 pm?  I tried to ask Sarge in an email what he would charge to bring our Sailor from the hotel back to RTC and he didn't respond personally, just sent the page with all his prices?  It looks like if your Sailor is the only one it will cost $9.00?

example...u have a div running on Mon BS...and they miss their PFA...the next and final BS running is on Tuesday and the one that missed Mon and Tues in those div are auto asmod because there are no more BS21 not Wed or Thurs prior to PIR Friday and they will not be able to try again on Wed if there are no BS21 right?

Comment by MyKidIsInNavy on March 4, 2013 at 12:30am

And when there is only 1 more BS21 to run the week of that PIR and it is NOT on a W,T then they are auto asmod right?

Ur angel:  A hug and "small kiss" are allowed inside PIR Hall...no "making out!"  HA!  Outside of PIR Hall, NO PDA is allowed.  You can't hold hands or have arms around each other.  You may take the crook of his left arm, leaving his right arm free to salute at all times.  This holds true when out and about in town also.

Comment by diannep on March 4, 2013 at 12:26am

They must pass their final PFA to do BattleStations.  If they don't pass it by the time their division does BattleStations, they usually will call...may say that they will not graduate, but not true necessarily.  They will get to try again M and W before PIR to pass.  If so, they will do BattleStations with the next group and be at PIR.  Some may even do it the night before PIR...which means, in the balcony in uniform, probably not marching because of being up all night (however, some manage to march!).  So hope that you don't get a call until after BattleStations!

If they don't pass the PFA by PIR, they stay in FIT DIVISION and keep trying M W F each week until they do...as long as they are improving they get chances...they then do BattleStations and head straight to A School...no Battlestations.
