~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

lavendergrl8, we stayed at the Residence Inn and it was pretty nice.

Aurie'sMom, haha, they are lucky that they haven't had to shovel, lol.  That is an awesome letter.

I am SOOO happy! I got to talk to my SR!!! So glad I knew the area code to watch for (847). He had to call me to get addresses/phone numbers for his security background check.. He is ATF-IT, so it's part of the requirements. He could answer yes/no questions while I searched for info.

They have mostly been inside, they have NOT had to shovel snow. He said the food is good! They have had 4 people leave so far. He sounded sooo good!!! Military people do not get a free pass to PIR, so his gf would not get a ticket automatically. That was good to know cause she was agonizing about whether or not to go from her station in Norfolk. My SR is everyone's favorite person in the DIV cause he's the mailman! He already got 3 of my letters! SUCH A GREAT DAY!

Gatorfan:  131/132 are brother divisions which mean they train together on the same schedule.

I am from S. Fl too!  If you are flying up to PIR, be sure to check out Southwest Airlines rates from FT Lauderdale into either Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee.  Milwaukee is closer to GL, less traffic, however if your sailor will be flying out to A School and you plan to visit at the airport, they will be flying from either Midway or OHare  most likely the day after PIR (although sometimes they go on Sunday if flights are booked on Sat).  No change fee if you have to change your flights (SRs can be asmoed(setback)....mine was).  2 bags check for free.

Southwest has some good fares going on right now if you book your flight before 2/18.  Check out their website!

Hi Kelly, My son is on Ship 14 Div 132, not really sure why I have see some div written as 131 some as 132 and some as 131/132 anyone know the diffrence?  We are from south Florida.

Comment by diannep on February 13, 2013 at 8:24am

Welcome to the group, kelly!

Comment by diannep on February 13, 2013 at 8:23am

lavendergrl:  Chances are, your sailor will be leaving on Saturday.  However, if you can stay until Sunday, just in case, it would be better.  Sometimes flights can change.

Be sure to mention the Navy Grad rate when you call the hotels.

Good Morning All!
