N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

LCPO=Leading Chief Petty Officer
Which means...their top in command of their division!

No she wrote it in her letter and it definitely said Bumby.  Now one of the recruiting places in Orlando is on Bumby street - perhaps the senior chief has some connection there or it was an inside story from there.  My dtr said that the Senior Chief (ship LCPO) wanted it on their flag.  (what is a ship LCPO?)

Comment by ellen0502 on March 16, 2013 at 9:31pm

MartuB, could she have said Gumby?

great suggestion catmom. thanks!

Diannep & Ellen - it was worth a shot to see if we could see the flag and see if anyone knew what a bumby was.  I sent my dtr a letter today and asked her what that was.  This week is going to be busy for them so I may not find out until PIR.  Thanks! If you google a bumby it is several things - a teddy bear, a seabee jeep that was named that, a diaper cover and Jack Hemmingway's nickname as a child.  Ha ha maybe they have a completely different use for that word.

MartiB,

My Sailor daughter got division shirts for her sister and myself, who were the only 2 of our family able to attend her PIR.  That was a nice surprise.  You could wait to see if your SR will do that, then order later for yourselves on Poseidon's site.  They keep the designs for a long time now, so no worries about them not having them!

Friends,

"Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence,

and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your Salvation,

and uphold me by Your generous Spirit."

...also, MartiB:  The division flags are put on the division tshirts that your SR can order, for family too, or you can order.  Here is the link!  Like ellen said, you will not get to preview the actual flag design here.

Good Morning All!

MartiB, The division flags are designed by the recruits in the division, they are all different, and will have some meaning to the division.
