Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on February 20, 2015 at 10:31am: Good Morning! To add to what CatMom said, there is big trouble for the sailors if they do try to put another sailor's family members on their guest list.....so please do not ask your SR to do this.

Goat: Not sure if your division got to mail out letters for the first time on Tues (since Mon was a holiday...normally they are collected on Sun and mailed out Mon). So you possibly may get one today....maybe even tomorrow....if not, they should be able to write this weekend and mail out on Mon. Once they mail out these first letters, they receive mail M-F but can only mail out their letters to you on Mondays.

Identification:

All guests 18 years and older must present valid government issued photo identification (driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID card).

Guests 17 years or younger who do not possess one the items listed above must present one of the following: school ID card, driver’s permit, copy of their birth certificate or social security card.

As generous as your offer is, it is not allowed to put family/friends of another SR on one's Access List. This has been in efffect since January 2013. Thanks for your understanding~~
