For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on March 10, 2015 at 8:44am: Thanks for clarifying that, CatMom. I should have added in my post....many of those had asked during Bootcamp if there was a webpage where they could preview the photos before PIR. As far as I know, that is still not possible.

To add to diannep's answer to you, you can go to the Photolab adjacent to the NEX to view both poses--smiling and not smiling--then decide if you want to order anything additional from what your SR already ordered. Not sure if your SR can mix the 2 shots. Think it might have to be all the same pose that is ordered by your SR~~ You can ask the Photo Lab about that: 847-578-6205

Radiogirl: In the past, many on this site had thought that they could preview the Formal Pik proofs and order, but there is nowhere to do that. The SRs will be the ones to see them during Bootcamp. But I believe the photos will be available to order for one year after Bootcamp and like FTLW said, you would then be able to order too.

Your Recruits will have the opportunity to order packages of their Dress uniform photos.

If they don't happen to do it then, then you can still order photos after PIR.

A DVD of PIR and the Keel (aka as the Cruisebook -think yearbook if BC) are also available for purchase. The photo lab only prints up as many Keels that are ordered during BC or on PIR weekend. It is not available for purchase after PIR. I beleieve it is the same with the DVD.

Comment by diannep on March 9, 2015 at 8:30pm: Radiogirl: Your SR has to order the piks, but can order them AFTER PIR if he/she wants and you can then help select the ones you want too! If your SR will order them, Pkg A is a very good one and comes with The Keel (yearbook) for free if your SR orders the pkg during Bootcamp. Make sure to tell him/her to order the PIR DVD also....I believe that is $29.
