For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I pray he gets to call back because we don't want to waste a 12 hour drive!!! I did email the PAO about it last night. Congratulations to all new sailors!!!!

abraxtona: We are not allowed to disclose BattleStations dates on this site until after the fact. Now I can tell you that 135-138 went through last night. They should be finishing up about now and will have the capping ceremony.

And, yes, the I'm a Sailor calls from those divisions will come in after 2 pm Central time. Do not count on them all coming in by 3 pm though...and know that many times, they don't start until after 2 pm. Phones glued to your bodies! You don't want to miss this one!

Captains Cup for this PIR group tomorrow. Here is the info!

I called the PAO's office yesterday & they told me ship 11; Div 135, would be doing their final test of Battle Stations today. I missed my son's call tonight because she (PAO) said their last call to say they are a sailor was scheduled or Friday between 2-3pm. I was hoping to get my call tomorrow so now I'm sitting on pins, needles and a whole lot of faith!!!

Comment by diannep on March 28, 2013 at 11:12pm: FutureNavW1: Kinda confused by your call. His division has NOT gone through BattleStations yet....a little confused on that. Are you sure he didn't say that he failed his final PFA? That would be more likely to have happened. Because if he failed is PFA, then he can't do BattleStations until he passes it. But here's the good news....he has time to pass it! He will try again in the morning (PFA) and if he doesn't pass then, he tries again Monday and Wed if necessary. He can go through BattleStations with another division then.

Keep the faith! Lots of prayers for him!

FutureNavW1- best wishes that he can get in with another group - especially if he was in one of the very first there has to be a way!
