For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

All I keep thinking is "no news is good news"....surely a one day briefing could be made up and not hold him up a week...its just so close! Did he write the letter on Sun.? I bet he's got it made up and all is well. Hoping someone can answer your question so you don't have to worry!

My son had pink eye and was in SIQ for a day and missed a mandatory briefing... His letter said he is hoping to make it up but was very nervous. When will I know for sure that he is graduating on 4-5

He said he finished fire fighting and got to experience the gas chamber for about 40 seconds he said it was the longest 40 seconds. Please say extra prayers for our SR they will need them. He mentioned he would be calling sometime. I have a question wonder if the sailor call comes the day after battle stations or if its a couple days after. Does any one know. I don't want to miss the call.

Comment by sonjal (SHIP 02 DIV 921) on March 28, 2013 at 8:22pm: Hello TSC, My daughter is in Div. 921. I do not know her role yet on where she will be. How will we know? She definately is not in drill, band or choir. Her last letter she sent she was still unsure of what she will be doing. Maybe she will be a behind the scene sailor and help else where.

He is hoping that he gets to make it up soon or they will move him to div 809 and graduation to 8-12. When does he find out this will happen or if he will get to go to graduation with his current division? That would be a bummer to go along with this group of guys then get pushed back a week.

Any feedback on how that goes?
