OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

He called my husband.  I SO wish I were there for it.  The call dropped after about 10 minutes but I am sure I can pick his brain all about it on Friday. :)

If you're like me, this is what Div 181 moms are doing today:

pace pace pace pace pace <check time>

pace pace pace pace pace <check phone>

pace pace pace pace pace <check time>

<repeat until the phone rings>

That's what I'm doing, anyway!

Here is a driving hint for those driving to PIR:

Stay to the left on Buckley, car line to RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC and turn around right past it at the train station....head back to RTC from the opposite direction and it is an easy left turn onto RTC!  For those on the shuttles, leave on the 6:15 one if you can or the 6:30 one.  You want to get there early for seating.  One mom from last week's PIR messaged me that they were on the 6:15 shuttle and were surprised how many were there already....seating more limited!

Am thinking the 181/182  "new Sailors" have enjoyed the pizza party and I hope they have had a shower and some rest.  Then it will be back to marching in preparation for PIR.  Then the calls begin!!!!  "I'm a Sailor"  it just brings tears to my eyes.  Would love to hug each and every one...but i will refrain!!!  Will be looking for you in the bleachers!!!

Catmom509,   Thanks for your encouragement through the Word of God!!!!  Our LORD is always Good;  let us defer to His plan which if perfect in every way!  I so often think I know what is best for each of my children and I make my knowledge known to them....then the LORD taps me on the shoulder and reminds me, "I am way ahead of you on this...let me have control.  My ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts!!!"  So, I am learning to really "trust" Him,  I am learning to stand back and see how He is working...it really is exciting!  Please continue to encourage us!   :)

CONGRATULATIONS to all the new Sailors and their families!!  Safe travels to all to an awesome PIR!!

Remember, PIR is just the beginning of the Navy journey.  Keep plugged into Navy for Moms where there are groups for A school, C school,  ratings (jobs), bases, ships, states, regional, twins and multiples, and the "Christian Navy Moms" that I am a part of!

Also, the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command page on Facebook puts up photos from each PIR.  If you see your Sailor in a pic or more, you can download it to your own computer by either clicking on the picture, going down to Options and downloading it OR right click, "Save Picture As" to a file on your computer~~
