OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Wow!!! only 18 more days until PIR.  That does not seem possible.  I'm sure they will just fly by.  Saying my prayers and keeping my fingers crossed that everyone gets through BS21 and we all receive that wonderful "I'm a Sailor!!" phone call. :)

Good Morning All!!!! Can you believe we are just 18 short days from PIR!!!! YAY!!! I just wanted to drop a couple things by you in all of our planning for the big day!
Sarge's Meet & Greet: We have a mom that has volunteered to make nametags for all of us! Thank you Teri! I will be making Division centerpieces for all divisions (division numbers will be on them as well) for easy identification.
Next, wondering if anyone is interested in making a photo board for your SR? We will have space to display them at the Meet & Greet. I thought this would be a nice touch since many of us have become so very close while our SR's have been away. If you are concerned about space due to flying, I would be more than happy to pick up supplies for your board and you can throw it together at the Meet & Greet! Let me know your thoughts!
Again, I can't wait to meet all of you and "Cheers, heres to only 18 short days!"
