Sorry guys for being MIA over the weekend, it was super busy and hectic here and Alabama with it being a holiday weekend. I am just now getting soe time to come here and catch up. Alot of bummed moms and other loves ones so I wanted to clarify my phone call a little better and maybe give hope to you guy who still haven't heard from your SR's. I recieved my first call Friday night around 8 central time, the phone call was very brief ( as in maybe 5 mintues max)and I believe my SR was only able to make his call because I miscarried our baby and I had wrote him about it preciously. When he called I asked him how he was calling because he called from a US Government number and I was worried he was calling to say that he was coming home. He said at that point that the chief brought him into his office to let him call me. When he didn't mention the entire group making calls and the fact that he wasn't calling from the phone center (where they generally use the phones to call home), it occurred to me that maybe they allowed him to call home since it was sort of a medical emergency on my part. Also I asked what official week they were on because In Processing days are dead days that do not count as their training. He informed me that on Friday, they were only on WEEK 2 Day 2, so they haven't officially been in BC training for the three weeks when they generally are allowed to call. I hope that brings hope to those who haven't heard from their SR's. He said that he’d been getting mail all through the week. Also I’ve read the forum about what they are doing day by day and it’s helped me in terms of feeling like I’m on the same page as my recruit by knowing what’s going on daily with him as well as it’s helped me know what questions to ask. http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433
I also sent him a questionnaire from Navy4moms site that also wraps up allot of questions to ask and gives him a good baseline to be able to answer them all in a more timely manner, so that may also help. Keep those chins up and the faith that you will soon talk to your recruit. And remember those letters are golden , fill them positivity and support but ost importantly, just keep them going out to them:) And as awlays keep us updated!
"he" not "me." sorry!
mmorales: Remember, the first part of bootcamp is really tough...in every way...for the recruits. Missing home is the hardest for them...and they are getting yelled at alot...beginning to think they can do nothing right. This calms down by about training week #4 (5-6 weeks after they left home) of bootcamp. Keep writing lots of encouraging letters to him.
As far as coming home, they can't just quit. They can be sent home though for different reasons. Assume that No News is Good News at this point, and that him mentioning coming home meant that me may choose to come home...which he can't do. I would step up the number of letters you write to him right now...and have other write too. Remember also, by the time you received this letter, things could have gotten much better for him. Bootcamp is emotionally up and down for them...so hoping that he is doing much better now!
No call here...I have never gone on a run with my phone so today was a first. A little uncoordinated with the phone, ipod and 80 lb Lab in tow but we did it. SR will laugh at that. Wanted to hear his voice....tomorrow is his birthday. I just hope that he has started to receive my letters.
Brianna's Mom, i can relate, I never take my phone into church service but I did today, I just cannot miss his phone call, LOL No phone call today here either, I was so hoping to hear from him, I pray I receive a letter this week from him. It was a wonderful day with all our family celebrating Easter, he was missed but in all our thoughts and prayers. I know he is in great hands, we are counting down the days to PIR!
Nope...no call here yet either! Was really hoping for one. If not tonight, I sure hope sometime this week! Was a little hard today without her here. Was a beautiful day here in Nebraska also. Wanted to get some yard work done, but was afraid of missing Briannas call so did not go too far out the front door! LOL!
Interested to see if anyone received an Easter Sunday phone call. I haven't given up hope yet but haven't received one yet. No letters either so far. Hopefully will receive a letter tomorrow. Hope everyone has haad a wonderful Easter. The weather here in the Houston area has been beautiful today.
Halleluiah, FTLW! Headed to church in a few to celebrate!
