Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just want to thank you for all your time here, patiently answering the same old questions you get over and over from us concerned moms, hungry for any information on our recruits. You have truly made this a better experience. I don't know what I would have done without this site, especially in the days without any word from our recruit. You all have kept me grounded in the difficult days. Can't wait for Friday!

proud GA: Thanks for the "extras' info. We have heard in previous groups that some extras were denied entrance into the Chapel because it was being held for "overflow" from PIR Hall, but sometimes they get in. Hope it works out for the extras!

Comment by proud GA on May 19, 2015 at 7:43am: Good Morning everyone and the clock is at 3 days!!!! just wanted to share a little info that I inquired about the Chapel viewing for the PIR. This came straight from the RTC.

Extra guests must check in at the visitors center with a photo id and then will be directed to sit in ta waiting room until they are escorted over to the chapel. They must remain in the chapel, regardless if the live stream is working or not, until the conclusion of the ceremony when they will be escorted back to the visitors center.

My SR didn't want too much and he kept his debit card, cause he has managed to use it at the NEX and also for some sort of music purchase. Not ITunes, but something else. I am not quite sure what for? I saw it on his checking account. So it must be something he bought after BS, when they were in "Recruit Heaven" as he referred to it...
