Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I received a letter yesterday that my son made honor recruit for Div 177!!! I am so very proud of him and this accomplishment. I cannot wait to see him!!

Lala, So glad that your family found this little boy. There are so many mean people out there that could have found him. The lord surely was watching out for him!! I pray that you had sweet memories of your mom this mother's day. I am sure that you miss her very much!

diannep..I have written my son to ask him to add my husband due to my mom wasn't able to go. But as of yet I haven't heard from him. It seems that my letters are delayed getting to him because the letters that he is sending isn't addressing anything I ask him. Maybe he will confirm this week by call or email.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. We spent the day at the lake with our family and had a nice time. We even saved a lost 8 yr old boy. We were at the picnic area and he was with several members of his family. They packed up all their stuff in 3 different cars to leave. He went to the bathroom to change and when he came back all of his family was gone. He didn't even know any of their phone numbers or his home address. I called 911 and told them we had found a lost child and the sheriffs dept came. The family live over an hour away and after about 40 min the realized they had left him. Mom thought he was in dads car and dad thought he was with mom. When they figured it out they call 911 to say their child was lost/left behind. I guess they were worried something would happen to him before they got back. The whole ordeal took about 2 hours before the parents got back to get him. He didn't cry but we could tell he was really worried. His dad came to thank us and I told him, in a nice way, to teach that child their cell phone number. Thank goodness we found him and it all turned out okay :) We also went to my mom's grave site and cleaned it and put flowers there. She passed away Dec 20th and I sure do miss her.

Leanne: They should be updating their guest lists this week....does your SR know that your husband should be on there? If so, no worries---he will add him. However, if his name is not on the guest list, they will not let him in. For those families who have elderly, disabled, or special needs family members who need to be close by, but who are not on the guest lists, they may be allowed into the Chapel to watch the Livestream (they cannot go into PIR Hall for the ceremony if not on the guest list). RTC personnel has asked all of those not on the guest lists to please remain off base, but occasionally they may make exceptions, no guarantee though. I checked this out with Brian Walsh at RTC a few months back.

Forgot to mention that the OHare Hilton is within the airport so you are right there.

For those whose sailors may not be flying out until later in the afternoon or evening, who are flying from OHare, you may want to check out the Ohare Hilton daytime rate (it used to be $55) and possibly reserve a room so that you/your sailor have a place to rest/hang out in rather than just the airport. This has worked out well for several in previous PIR groups.
