Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ladies,
Even though I know you are hoping for a call on Mother's Day, with thousands of SRs at RTC at the same time, not all will get to call, so just hang onto the knowledge that you know your SR loves you each immensely!! <3

You will have some idea how long it takes your mail to get to your SR. We recommend sending the last letters no later than the Sat before PIR. They do try and forward mail, but you can imagine the amount of mail coming in, and your SR doesn't submit a forwarding address (LOL). Every piece of mail that arrives after graduation someone has to look up an address. Many times it is just returned to sender. :)

I thought I read where we should keep sending letters, and they will get to them eventually, wherever they are.....maybe I read that wrong?

Thanks diannep! I was thrilled to get it!
ClerMom: NO I did not post my letter on facebook! I wanted to, but I didn't. One of the other moms did. After what I was told here and on facebook, I was surprised the admins let her post it. I didn't think it was wise to show all the SRs names in the public forum, but I will bring it to the Meet & Greet!! :-)

I got two letters and two surveys today. I was so happy to get them. He said they are getting along better the food is great and he is sick and tired of being sick and tired but all in all doing well. He told me a funny. When the head crew was cleaning the bathroom he started singing hakuna Matata from lion king then theist of the day the crew all proceeded to sing all of the so gas from the lion king. He said pretty well too. I am glad they are not to tired to have a little fun. It's good for morale. I hope others received letters today.

I got a letter!! He's doing great he also filled out a questionnaire so keep eyes open moms of 183, they may get back to u!! He won a medal for expert at the firing range! He's pretty excited about it! He wants pics of his little sis too! Love this kid!!
