~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

ProudNavyMom#1,

The key thing you need to know is what time does his flight leave the airport?  He needs to be at the gate at least 1 hour prior to the flight leaving.  The plane is boarded 30 minutes before the flight time.

When we met our Sailor daughter at Midway Airport at about 2:00 am and we were with her we get our gate passes.  She flew with Delta.  It appears that the different airlines have different policies as I saw on another post that American Airlines only required the Sailor name & reservation number for family to be able to receive gate passes to join their Sailor, plus that Sailor's flight was way in the afternoon.

Can I say that if your Sailor wants you there with him in the early morning hours that he has been missing you and wants to spend as much time as possible with you?  There will be long stretches of time where we cannot physically be with our Sailors.  Mine was able to walk over to us and hang a bit while we waited with her in the holding area by the ticket counter, then after we got our passes, we were able to walk around the airport with her for 4 hours.  Seeing them on Skype, texting, and phone calls are just not the same.  I miss not being able to hug her and see her around.

Oh, great that your son is a leader holding his group's paperwork, but they can drop off the paperwork and backpacks at the USO and then he will be all yours until flight time!!

so many conflicting messages on whether my Sailor needs to be with me at the Airline counter or not.  I called the airline yesterday and they told me I would have to be with my Sailor in order to get a pass.  Can someone please confirm?  My Sailor is in charge of the paperwork for 16 other sailors so he has to pretty much stay with them until they get to the gate.  Any one has experienced this before?  My Sailor wants us to go with him to the gate. :/

On a separate note, CONGRATS to all of you who received the long awaited I'm a Sailor call today!!!! God bless

I heard that all 218 passed BS last night!  I do not have a call yet, but that is what another New Sailor told her mom!!!!
