N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Weather update--- I arrived in the Chicago area to visit with friends yesterday. If you are from a warm climate, you should know that it is very cool here this week! I certainly did not bring enough sweatshirts or warm jackets for the cool/rainy weather. Thanks goodness there is no lack of shopping opportunities!

WOW!  Thanks for the info diannep and "other"!  We are going in and out of Midway-my husband says it's a horrible airport!  Good to know that nothing happens until 4:15.  I'm hoping he'll be delayed at GL and we won't have to worry about it!  I hope, I hope, I hope!

Posting this from someone who just had PIR this past Friday:

Just got back from PIR. Here is my report: We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn: more pricey than others, but a great room layout for visiting with your sailor after PIR, especially if you have other people there. Since there is a living area with couch and kitchen table, you can visit comfortably in the room. Nobody has to lay around on beds talking :)  Good hot breakfasts free (eggs, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, waffles, fresh fruit, muffins etc.) A shuttle takes you to and from PIR for $3 per person. Very convenient. Very nice! Met our sailor at Midway at 2:00 a.m. The airport was very disorganized at getting our sailors booked. Family passes are not available until the ticket counter opens at 4:15 a.m. So you have to wait in the ticket area until then. No seating, very uncomfortable...plus we were all tired. Couldn't really visit with our sailor because he was waiting in line to check his bags. The best visiting time came when we got the family pass and went through security. We waited at the gate with him until his flight left at 6:15 a.m.

Exactly, the fingers don't go as fast as the brain (for that matter, neither does the calendar).  It is never quick and easy, is it?

Jgmars6- I think we're all just on edge just wanted those calls :) your right we should all know by Wednesday boy but it stinks waiting lol
Comment by jgmars6 (Jeannie) on June 2, 2013 at 1:05pm

Sorry, I did not mean that literally...just that they do not do BS on Fri/Sat.  It can resume on Sunday.  Regardless, they still should be done by Wednesday.  And no I also did not mean to suggest that they will jump order either.  I too would assume that 220 would be last.
