~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Very sad about the female SR in Div 205 (PIR 05/31) who passed away.  From what I was told, it was a pre-existing condition. So very very sad.  I could find nothing about it in the news either.  Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to send our condolences.  If we had her name, we could search for a Legacy guestbook and sign there.  We have done that in the past for some others.  But with no news and no name, I don't see how we can do that (I don't think that RTC would be allowed to release her name unless they have publicly released it first).  One SR who passed away 1.5 yrs ago .... his fiance was here on this site.  Very hard.  Prayers for this SR and her family.

mom2cdjk:  Sent you a friend request with info about the date!

Do you by any chance know the Mertens family in Niceville?  He is retired Army.

Good Morn ladies...exciting week for this group...almost single digits on the count down clock. Some will be getting BS21 dates, reminder you can't post the information until after the division pass. I know it's exciting to share the information...:)

Yes, follow the advise to by pass the line and turn around at the train station or next signal light to head the opposite direction into the base to turn left into the base. You will by-pass a lot of the line waiting to turn right. Worked great for me. And not many know what you're doing. Have your gate pass and ID's ready, I wasn't asked for insurance or the rental car contract like I've read before. Good thing because I couldn't find the rental car contract.....forgot my lala ribbons at the hotel too. Must be because of the excitement, different time zone and having 4 hours of sleep!

While waiting for PIR to start test your cameras, shot a couple of pictures but remember when your division is closer to the roll up door the lighting will change on you. Shot a couple of pictures before you division rolls by so you can adjust your settings. After getting back home you can adjust the color contrast on the pictures using photo shop or picasa...to improve your pictures...:))

lisaz...  I'm doing great, and ready for this to be over!  I've said for the past nearly 2 years that I'll believe it's real when she graduates from boot camp.  I can't believe that's only a week and a half away now.  Looking forward to meeting you and your daughter.  :)

Melanie:  Navy Lodge doesn't use the general shuttle service, but Sarge will pick you up in his shuttle.  Give him a call!

...or....sign up for his shuttle at his MeetandGreet the night before PIR.

Good Morning All !

mrsb,

I'm sure you're going to call Homewood Suites on the shuttle issue and I'm thinking they don't  because they are a little farther than Waukegan, but it doesn't hurt to check.  If you have to drive, take note of Diannep's suggestion of driving past the RTC entrance on Buckley where everyone is lined up to make a right, turning around at the train station, then coming back and making a left turn into the entrance.

With regard to arrival, the earlier before 7 am, the better.  Try for seats in the lower bleacher level on the back against the wall.  Check your camera's settings and take some test shots to see if your pictures will come out right.  It looks brignt out there, but many pictures come out too dark or not focused right because of the overhang.  Before I get myself started on stuff, please check out my "Pertinent PIR Tips" up in the Discussion Forum, if you haven't already.

mrsb, You should have a pretty good idea how long it takes the mail to get to your recruit, but we recommend you stop sending mail the Sat before PIR. Keep in mind that the day of BS both start and finish, they may not have mail call (depends on what their day may bring) and there will not be mail call on the Friday of PIR.

By the way I wasn't able to find a "stadium seat" that could be delivered to me here in CA. in time so I ordered them from Walmart and am having them shipped for store pickup at a Walmart near our hotel. Just an idea for anyone else interested.

mrsb: We are also staying at Homewood Suites in Lincolnshire, we arrive on Weds.
