For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on May 22, 2013 at 7:27pm: Yep, jaime. I think you are correct that she meant training week/day 6-1. The date 6-1 is a Saturday and they won't do PFAs on Saturday.

Comment by jaime30024 SHIP 02 DIV 930 on May 22, 2013 at 7:18pm: The other thing..I believe they will all get a Marksman ribbon (at minimum) because I think you must qualify 180. However, I will not mention that to her because I do not want to take away from her excitement and she should be proud that she didn't struggle with getting the score needed to qualify :)

We passed Marlinspike with 14 people 'dead'

My dogs are always barking.

Her PFA she passed her run and push ups but is 9 sit ups from passing. She says she WILL get it next time, and their 3rd PFA is 06/01. ON May 13th the division got a score of 4.1 on PI and 4.7 on WTI

May 14- Zone Inspection and they got 4.27 - no flags as of May 14th. Shotgun is a M500 and heavy as he--

May 15 - they had live fire and she scored a 180 or above so she earned a Marksman ribbon for her uniform (she is pretty pleased about that). She said the 9mm and M500 were fun, but the M500 scared her at first and she shot her neighbors target. She said that she helps with laundry a lot.

May 16- they IT'd like MoFo (her words not mine) because they have drill inspection on May 17

May 17 - They passed their drill inspection with a 4.62 and got new flags for passing. There were 2 females that failed the second test but she didn't mention names.

She goes on to mention the next PI (I believe next week) where they are instructed which uniform to dress into and then get inspected and questioned and then dress back into NWU's. She did mention a little something about BS21 so PM me if you want to know that and I will be happy to share. Says she will ask again about the Form Letter. That maybe she will have her travel information week 6.

Comment by BoyWonderMom on May 22, 2013 at 6:19pm: Just got a brief letter from my SR, was written this last Sunday, a brief letter. Mentioned he's very tired, had watch at 3:45 am and then again later that same day. He's praying that he doesn't have watch after PIR but its a possibility for everyone. Got his collar devices for his NSU's and a ribbon. All of them are counting the days and very excited for the days to come, preparing to start in a new place again. I miss him so much, but the end for this phase is so close now, thank God everyone is pulling through.

Just when I had resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't get one so I'd stop feeling bad, she surprises me. I'm glad to have at least one from this time in her life. :)
