Ladies, keep in mind that on Friday they will be wearing their 'dress whites". My son informed me that he can do nothing"dirty". I thought of going to Six Flags also.

Yeah piano mom!!!!  I am sure as elated as you are your SR is even more thrilled!!!!

meryl....woohaa for your SR also....amazing what a little pressure and prayer can do!!!!

Thank you all for your support for my son while he was ill (and well too). Your prayers got him through.  You let me lean on you throughout all of his journey and I am so thankful to have you in my life.

Pianomom, I am so thrilled that your son floated.  Congratulations!  You must be ecstatic!

KC'smom: Geez!  Sorry about the RDC's attitude toward your son.  Someone needs to talk to that man!  You're both in my prayers.  You're gonna get through this and be stronger than you were before.  God bless you.

Squeekerz, keep hanging in there, girl!

I heard the same thing. They just need to wear their Navy issue swim trunks
Comment by Jessicay24 on June 12, 2011 at 9:21am
They have Navy issued swim shorts and I think they can wear that? Because I was wondering the same thing about Six Flags and the waterpark...our SR's should know by then, but I remember reading about if they want to work out or swim during liberty they just have to wear what they have been given

I was wondering... our hotel has a hot tub that I bet would feel good to our new sailors beat up body..  but I think I read they had to have permission to be our of uniform in any way? anyone know..?

**other note I read about the black bags. If they have any little writing on them like Nike or such, you are to remove them. They need to be complelty black with no writing.

I got a letter on Friday from my daughter.  She said she would be writing me one more letter telling me what to bring for her for her A School.  She said I could just mail the rest.  Should I be getting a black duffel bag as well or wait and ask her at graduation?  Thanks for the info.  I hear her division got a trophy on Saturday.  Congrats to all the SRs!

electronics on base at Boot Camp
Comment by Giraffe on June 12, 2011 at 7:57am

Good Morning all my son PIR'd 6/3 If I can be of any assistance I will check in from time to tme.. usually way late for now or early on the weekends...

diannep is wonderfuly and very knowledgeable as well as mmiles, Lala, and many others on this FANTASTIC site for us newbies

They don't allow them to have electronics on base... However they can when they are with you.. also you can meet them at the airport when they are leaving for A school and give it to them..

There may be some that are not allowed to have cells, ipods, etc at "A" school, but I haven't heard of any yet. So keep that in mind..

They all will want Food.. their cell phones, lap top, etc... or a nice long private shower, sleep, and the like..

Good luck to each and every one of you and your soon to be new Sailors
