for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

memeGaronsMom,
I don't think any posts are missing, just less people posting in this PIR group right now~~ Last one I see is from diannep 6 hours ago re: "For others attending PIR....."
For others attending PIR.....you will have a division section to sit in....either in the floor bleacher section or in the balcony. It is advised to get there early and check out seating in different parts of your section to see what works for you. You will be surprised at how many people are already there in the seats just a few minutes after 7! Choice seats go quickly so be early to PIR!
Hootsmom: Have not heard that the view is bad from the Honor Recruit section....I believe they sit you there so you can see the awards your Honor Recruits (now sailors!) receive...hope you can find out more info about this when you arrive on base. I believe they have a ceremony for the Honor Recruits and their families in another part of the base before PIR, right? Wasn't that in the letter you received? Congrats to your SR for receiving this honor!
Sailors fly out either Saturday or on some occasions on Sunday. They start being bused to the airport right after midnight. Flights are all different times. Your SR may know his orders when he makes the I am a Sailor call. In the files at the top of the page their is a file called Flight Information. About 2 weeks before PIR you can fill out an index card with that info and send to your SR to fill out and give you at PIR. That way you will have all his flight info. Your family is welcome to meet your SR at the airport to hand over electronics (ie: phone laptop/tablet) personal items like underwear, comfy PJs, toiletries (they are loaded up leaving RTC so not much room). Sailors cannot wear civilian clothes outside their room until they phase up. Also at the airport you can get a gate pass from the airlines (Sailor has to be with you) so everyone can go thru security and stay at the gate until your Sailor leaves.

Feel free to forward a copy to your SR to fill out and GIVE back to you after PIR.
I am trying to find the post about sending a postcard to our SR for them to write down flight information and give to us after PIR.
Don't know what we would have done without all of the "spot on" advise and guidance through this forum. I keep getting asked from friends and family "how can you possibly know all this info" I just refer them here. My son's bestfriend just graduated the naval academy, his Mom had never been on this site I don't known how she managed. Thanks again for all you do to support and inform families. Feels like we are all graduating too.
Is it true reference the seating? Should a family member sit elsewhere for pictures? Thank you regarding checking on the coin.
Greetings!
"I will praise the Lord, Who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me.
Because He is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken."
Psalm 16:7-8
Good Morning!
