N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If you already have family in the Navy and they are attending I get the impression then doing it on line would be fine, suggest putting the reservation in their name would be best, as they would need ID. Either way is fine. They ask you to set up a profile as well when booking on line. They have Navy Lodges all over the world, so if you plan on visiting your then Sailor :) it looks like the place to stay.

So I just made reservations at the Navy Lodge for PIR. This is a hotel on base. Lovely rooms, very reasonably priced, two queens with sleeper sofa and kitchen 72.00 a night. I strongly suggest you go to the website and then call the number for reservations as it must be in your SR's name. They do not need to be present to check in, but they will check his/her information. Just a suggestion.

S and L,

No, if you are asking about the Meet & Greet hosted by Sarge and held the night before PIR, no Sailors will be there.  It is a fun, informational event for the Navy families on shortcuts to get to RTC and things to do in the area.  Free food and fun activities!  You will probably meet moms/wives/other families members from this PIR group there~~  Totally kid and family friendly!

*days between BattleStations and PIR

Comment by diannep on May 4, 2015 at 10:33am

Joe'sMom:  Remember that there are processing days before training weeks start (6).  So when they give you a number, say 1-3, that means it is training week 1 of the 6, day 3.  The processing days and the days between BattleStations (final test then they are sailors) do not count in these weeks.  But they are the reason that Bootcamp adds up to about 8 weeks.

meme:  Check out Southwest Airlines....not sure if they do pkg deals, but if your SR is delayed for any reason. you will not pay a penalty to change your flights (just fare differences). They fly into Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, no traffic, usually cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic).
