N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My SR's best friend from school just graduated from the Naval Academy. He wants to surprise my son on graduation day by attending. He is obviously not on my son's list. As a 2nd Lt, Marine can he attend on his own? He should have access to the base correct?

Friends,

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon.  Perhaps you can share with your SR in a letter now.

     "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have summoned you by name;  you are mine.

When you pass through the waters,

I will be with you; and when you pass

through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.

      When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;

the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord,

your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

                                                                 Isaiah 43:1b-3a

ProudHusband3,

Hello!  Are you trying to call their number directly?  That's the way to book with them.  Their website doesn't allow for easy booking for some reason...

The recommended hotels in the Waukegan/Gurnee area (10 min from RTC) are Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, and Courtyard Marriot~~

Greetings!

"This is what the Lord says -- Your Redeemer,

      the Holy One of Israel:

I am the Lord Your God, who teaches you

what is best for you, who directs you in

      the way you should go."

                                                       Isaiah 48:17

Navy Lodge is about a mile or so from the base.  Not walkable to RTC though....sidewalks are not available.

Book in your SR's name if you don't have military ID.

Also, here are other hotels only 4-5 miles from RTC that are recommended by others on this site:

Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount---not the hotel general number, the the actual hotel number.  You can take a shuttle to/from PIR (Sarge's or book at your hotel front desk with the local taxi service)...I believe it is $3/pp each way.

Springhill Suites (closest to Sarges MeetandGreet held for you the night before PIR), Courtyard (both of these are next to the Walmart shopping center that has restaurants, etc in it)....Residence Inn and Holiday Inn Express, located very nearby.  Someone else just stayed at Candlewood Suites which is next to Residence....said it was good also.

To see reviews on the hotel you want, check it out on:

You are welcome, tammy!  Great attitude to have, by the way!  Yes, the RDCs do NOT want them to fail so will push them as hard as they can.

Thank you diannep. I do feel better about it today. I didn't seem to be worried at all when we talked to him on Saturday. I have just decided to trust him that he will be fine. He has always been strong and determined. I have also been reassured by a family friend (who was in boot camp less than 2 years ago) that his RDC's will get him through that run. That they refuse to let them fail. Thank you all for your info and encouraging words.
