For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Michelle on May 20, 2013 at 11:34am: Morning Ladies! Glad some of us got calls and got to hear from our loved ones - even if on voicemail :). For those that didn't fingers crossed that you will soon. I was soo excited to hear from my son and know he was doing fine after his wisdom teeth removal. You all know how we worry :).

I had gotten my mind ready to barely hear from him via phone so I'm always happy when I do. We're almost 1 month away from PIR!

Comment by imomxfour x 3 Sailors on May 20, 2013 at 10:47am: Michelle, I am so sorry you missed your husbands call. :( We missed our daughter's first attempt to call and it felt like forever waiting to see if she would call back, when it was really only like 2-3 minutes. We've been so busy trying to get our new home finished, that I set my phone down and didn't even think twice (we were not expecting another call so soon!!) about it, luckily our 16 yr old thought at the last moment to look at it and came running it in to me to tell me it was the Waukegan 847 area code...

Keep those phones on you at all times everyone!!!

Navywife2012, that is very cool that it IS you, since we have corresponded a bit already on here!!!! WOOOO-HOOOO - and now I know why you haven't gotten a call until now, if I remember correctly, your hubby has an important Div job, and he's probably been pretty busy. My daughter says they have their hands full because of a lot of bad apples in Div 236. (fyi, for those in 236, she said A LOT of them are good guys/gals, but there are a handful of young girls who are absolutely awful, and do not listen or follow rules, and everyone is SO sick of their flippant attitude & the fact that they all get in trouble for what those few do wrong, ugh) Anyhow, I had already written & told her there aren't that many moms from div 235 on here, but that there were a few wives, though - so I said to ask some of the married guys if their wives were on N4M's!! :)

I played that message over and over. I will pray that you will get another call soon. Until then just keep listening to his sweet voice over and over and let it bring you comfort.
