Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I might have posted about a call I got on Sunday that was well over an hour...I have twins the one in BC called Saturday and it was quick.  He sounded beat up as they had punishment PT all day, the long call was from his twin who is just finishing up A school.  about 3 more weeks for him then leave then deployment.

waiting anxiously for orders.

Francela313 - don't count on the call lasting 20 min.  My son left on Apr 16th as well and I just got a call this past Saturday and it only lasted less than 5 min. before the CO yelled "let's go let's go let's go".  Best 5 min ever but don't count on a certain time frame!  I've seen people post they have had 30-40 min calls, that is awesome but it all depends on the division, they day and the CO. Just make the most of every second!!

Francela313 sometimes of they have appointments or if they have a job while at BC thay won't get to make calls when everyone else does. I didn't get a call or a letter for three weeks either my husband left april 16th and he told me because he works in the church he pobably won't be able to call when everyone else does because his weekends are tied up. Keep your head up you'll hear something soon. No news is good news! :)

Hello there my boyfriend is in division 236 ship 9 and i was wondering if anyone has received any calls from this division my broyfriend left on april 25 and its been tree weeks that me and his mother dont know about him and i know someone whos boyfriends left four days after mine and he already had his 20 minute call
Comment by Michelle on May 14, 2013 at 2:12pm

Yes, you can just show your parent ID for all of your children's appointments for Tricare...even when they are old enough to have their own IDs. My boys never got their own and I just show mine at their appointments.

My son told me he is getting his wisdom teeth done this week. He was happy they got to call this past weekend cause he didn't want even the possibility of not being up to talking when they could make calls :). Fingers crossed that all medical processes go smoothly for everyone's SR.

Diannep- I just ordered him a ship coin, something I can put in the scrap book I'm making for him, as in any other gifts, I will probably wait till he comes home on his first leave, and take him shopping for a laptop so he Skype us while he is gone. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

imomxfour:  Never a problem to post what you like!  Please do.  It is nice for the ladies to get info from more than one N4Moms veteran.  We all may have different experiences to share!  :-)

kim:  My suggestion on PIR gifts is to ask your SR if there is something he/she would like...or.....take him/her shopping for a gift after PIR.  Just remember, they can't take anything back to RTC, but you can "hand off" at the airports to them or they can take items back when returning from Liberty if at GL A School base.
