N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Navywife2012:  There are 2 MeetandGreets held the night before PIR.  One is at the Ramada 6-8 pm.  The other is Sarge's 5:30 - 9 pm.  You can read about them in the EVENTS column on the right of this screen, but I don't believe your date to RSVP is up yet....if its not yet, it will be soon.

Blindfolded?  To remove his teeth?  I have ever heard of that on here before???  Very strange.

Comment by Kim F on May 13, 2013 at 9:39pm

I found out that my SR had his wisdom teeth out last week, but I understand that this isn't uncommon.  But is it normal for them to be blindfolded?  This is so disturbing to me as a mom.  UGH.  I would have been mortified!!!  Oh well...the life of a Sailor, right?

I will 2!!! Let me know

So what is the meet and greet? Is that the actual graduation? And did anyone get a letter today? Oh oh also did y'all find out about the dependants?
Comment by diannep on May 13, 2013 at 7:13pm

jewelf:  Please don't worry....it happens alot.  It is expensive to go there and work schedules/school schedules/other issues keep many from being there.  Sometimes you will find that other families attending with a sailor in your division will be happy to include yours with their group for the day.  But if your sailor doesn't want to do this, they still get Liberty with the other sailors who are there w/out families there.  So they get their time.

However, for those who cannot make it, we always suggest that as it gets closer to PIR, you post in your discussion group up top asking if someone could at least get a picture of your new sailor and send it to you.  The ladies are very wonderful about doing this!  So please try not to worry about it.  Your sailor will have lots of company!

Anissia'sMom:  They will have 3 PFAs.  She will keep practicing up until the 3rd one, which is given about a week before PIR.  Hopefully, she will have improved greatly by then and pass.  Doesn't matter if she passes the first two ....the third one has to be passed by each sailor in order to do BattleStations and graduate.

If she doesn't pass it by the time her division does BattleStations, she will be put in the FIT DIVISION to keep trying (3 x week).  She will have up until Wed before her PIR to pass it.  Then she could still be at her PIR.  But if she doesn't make it, she will stay in the FIT group and keep trying.  As long as she keeps improving her time, she gets more chances.  Once she passes it, she will do BattleStations and fly straight to A School....no PIR once they have missed their own.

Prayers for wings on her feet!

jewelf, My husband had his boot camp in San Diego (years ago) and I nor his family were able to make it out there for his PIR. He doesn't remember it as any kind of miserable moment or big deal. I'm sure your SR would love to see you if he could but would not be adversely affected if you can't make it. From what I've read the time is sometimes very limited so it will be a short visit. Maybe you can plan for him/her to come home once your SR finishes school - or whenever your SR gets leave - and have a big celebration then.

Comment by jewelf on May 13, 2013 at 5:38pm

Honest answers please---How terrible awful would it be for a SR to graduate and no one from the family be there?  I just don't see how I can swing it...
