N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

momxfour:  I think it is normal for all PIR groups to have some very sick SRs.....mine was no exception and was like your son in that he never really got sick before he went to bootcamp.  My theory (unscientific!) is that with all of the vaccinations they get when they arrive, all at one time, it temporarily weakens their immune system, which coupled with their stress levels in their new environment, allows them to get the germs that are so readily available around them.  It is called the Ricky Crud and few seem to be exempt.  The good news is that once in A School,  the sickness level seems to go back to a normal level.

Good Morning All !

Oh yeah TwinSalorsMomhis, this past winter was HORRIBLE for the recruits being sick - idk if its always that way in the winter, and/or if they are always sick in BC having come together from all over, and sharing everything, no matter the time of year - but our son hardly ever gets sick and he was a mess for awhile at Christmas and thereafter for a couple of weeks - flu, vomiting, pink eye, a cold, ear infection, etc... Poor kids!!!

Our daughter said it seems like everyone has a cold or bronchitis up there right now...she just had a slight cold with a cough though. I guess she'll be getting 1 wisdom tooth removed soon, and was told to make an appt. for the other 3 to be removed during A School - IDK why they don't just do them all at once though if they want her to get them all out eventually...

I feel so out of the loop this time with the construction we are doing in the home we just moved into... We are just so busy right now..trying to get it all done (installed & painted baseboard all day today, on Mother's Day of all days, lol) but I want it all done before our sailor son comes home in 11 days!!!

Oh, can someone send me the link to the Facebook group for our PIR date? I'm an admin on our FB group from my son's TG and was meaning to ask if one had been created yet, and saw it mentioned here...

Well good night everyone!!!

Karen. Look at it this way, you have a way to hear your son over and over again by playing back his message, so when you are missing him listen to the message!! That is nice.

Sam has a cold and next week they are removing a mole on his back that the doc didn't like. His twin was sick his entire time in BC , colds, diarrhea, pink eye twice.

Linda1963. I know what you mean about the permanent grin. I only got a really short call from Sam, he called his dad instead as I talked to him the week before, however today while I was on a hike his twin called from Florida and we talked for well over an hour!!! The best Mother's Day since they were 1day old!!
