~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks, diannep, Betsy, Co TwinSalorsMom, Chris' wife, Michelle, Kim, everyone!
Max was attached at the hip with my husband. Although he was bought for our son at age 5, my husband was a retired stay-at-home-dad, so Max bonded with him, even though Max would sleep with my son. He really was an all-around family dog.
He had had surgery a couple of months ago, and I was surprised that he came back from that with his age. But he was a tough little doggie!
My husband says "never again." This is only the second animal we've had that he was completely attached to in our 33 years together. The first few days, you think "never again," but that may change.
We do have a 5-year-old german shepard/beagle mix who was a rescue. He had been in 3 foster homes by the time we got him at age 10 months. But he's well-trained (although a little sloppy at it now cause we spoil him). lol. He was very jealous of our Max, and showed it many times. But he is a lover-dog, so it's good to be able to hug him when I'm crying over Max.
So glad you were able to get another Lab who has been awesome for you!! If we did get another dog, it would be a Lab I think. They are such gorgeous and kind dogs! And so glad you could connect up with his original family!
trags8, I'm so sorry about your sweet dog, I have a good friend who just went through that a couple of weeks ago - her daughter remarked how they had her for 15 years, since she was just 4 yrs old, and they grew up together, and it was heartbreaking. :( But now they can rest in peace, instead of suffering.
BTW, is everyone here, also over on the facebook page?
trag: Having to make the decision to stop an animal's suffering is the hardest....but somehow, they seem to communicate to us when it is time...and we know. He felt your love in doing this...and I'm sure he very much loved your arms in the end!
I was grieving so much after losing my Lab that after 2 weeks, I started looking for a Rescue. I had another dog here who I love, but he was lonely. I found our beautiful Yellow Lab on the other side of the state....same age as my current dog....I drove over 4 hours each way to meet and and bring him home with me! Both he and my other dog were 5. That was over 4.5 yrs ago...and he is a godsend. Absolutely has my heart! I was able to trace the past year of his life after I got him due to great info the rescue group had. Poor guy....was "fostered" for over a year....with 3 different people (first one was AF Captain who had to ship to Afghan after having him for 5 mos...he thought he would be placed before then...I traded great emails with him....he gave me wonderful info on this dog).
So you never know what God has planned for you all next! Maybe time to heal and remember....maybe a Rescue in your future? You sound like great people to give homes to dogs! :-)
Oh, thank you all so much for the sympathies for losing our fur baby. He was just the best dog ever. We always wonder if we're doing the right thing, hoping they'll "come out it" and be like before, but we couldn't watch him suffer any longer. I stayed with him til the end - he so loved being in my arms, I wanted him to know I had him to the end.
Michelle-Ship09Div236, where is your SR going? So glad you'll have extra time!!
Trags8- I am so sorry for your family's loss :/ we had to do the same with my husbands 19 year old dog last year. He was devastated :( I am keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers!!
Morning Ladies! We are one day closer to seeing our SR or at least being able to talk to them more for those who can't make PIR. I got some good news that my SR will have a week in GL before heading to A school which means more time after PIR!
trags8 sorry to hear about your fur baby. I had to put mine down because he started having seizures too. It was a very sad time for us even though we knew it was the best thing for him. (((hugs)))
trags8- So very sorry to hear about your dog. Prayers to you and your family. Dogs are very much a part of our families, we love them and care for them like we do our children.
Good Morning All !
