Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yep right in the bra LOL. My husband would be horrified but I REFUSE to miss this call today :). Happy Wednesday!!

Comment by CO-TwinSalorsMom on June 19, 2013 at 1:06pm: trags8 don't forget, you are not done with N4M, you move to the next group which would be your sailors A school group. I had a lot of fun and support with the group in Pensacola. Early on we were told to keep it navy business and all the members revolted saying sharing everyday fun stuff and making friendships was an important part of support that we all needed and we were left alone to bond after that, so much so that now that my sailor is gone from there I continue to check in and we are forming another group for alumni from there. So find your next group and introduce yourself. Now I am in one for twin 1's destroyer and home port. I will be joining the Nuke school sight for twin 2.

Comment by trags8 on June 19, 2013 at 11:13am: I'm with everyone on here -THANK YOU to everyone for your support, encouragement, and most of all to the veteran moms/wives who gave us so much information and helpful tips/advice about every little thing. I'm still a little bit nervous, even armed with all of the advice, but as long as I get to see my son graduate and spend some time with him, everything else is unimportant. :)
