N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Michelle:  Craig runs the NavyDEP website and does a wonderful job.  He is the "go to" man for the challenge coins.  He puts in so much time with the DEPPERS and the SRs, helping on this site too.  This is all volunteer work for him...he has an actual job!  He is a retired sailor, with a nephew/son in now (and a daughter in the AF).  He is a wonderful resource for you all!

@J's mom, how exciting!!  I really wish that they had some type of dancing thing, only because my baby was on her high school drill team.  Loved watching her dance ;)  But she did say her experience in choreo has helped her with the flag steps(?).  Guess I should go watch a PIR cermony video somewhere.

YES!  There is still plenty of time to order PIR ribbons from Lala.  Here is her page!  You can go there and look at her ribbons, contact her from there:

@Anissia's mom & @kcowdin - Div 932 is performing at 6/7 and 6/14.  My son has played drums since 6th grade and is in the drumline for BC.  He was so excited!! Can't wait to look at pics from those PIRs and see if I can find him!

@Anissia's mom, from what I gathered from my son's letter yesterday he said that they are performing in 2-3 weeks for the PIR's. So Yes, keep a lookout for your SR in the next few PIR's..fingers crossed we can see them!

Lindsay  I was just thinking the same thing about the weather when I saw the weather widget for Great Lakes. We live along the Gulf so 46 during the day is cold to us :). I'm thankful my SR is there now vs the winter. He'd really have been in for a big climate change.

I just took the Sailor test and it was really fun! I thought I'd breeze through the first test since we are retired Navy but I was wrong lol. I found it because I was curious to know what my SR was doing this week and found the Boot Camp for Dummies Group...great stuff. I also didn't know that our purchase of the challenge coins helps the NavyDep website which also has great information so keep ordering them and the ribbons to support those who are helping us all be more informed.

Comment by Betsy on May 23, 2013 at 1:26pm

I'm guessing we still have time to order ribbons for PIR?  I really love them!

Comment by Kim F on May 23, 2013 at 1:25pm
I ordered 4 ribbons Wednesday. Can't wait to see them! Same as the coin.
