For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I ordered the ribbons last Friday and wanted to order one of your new double ribbon designs with the red and blue, but since there was only blue available for our son, I decided to keep it the same for our daughter!! ( We always try to keep everything equal between 4 kids!!) ;-). I can't wait to get them!!!

I ordered the ship 09 USS John F. Kennedy challenge coin last Friday too, and received it on Tuesday, it's just as awesome as the ship 13 Marvin Shields coin we got for our son - we love being able to start their collection off like this!!

I am almost finished with my "US Navy" theme room, decorating it with everything we've acquired so far since our son's PIR and our daughter's going away party - it's so fun putting it all together!!! I can't wait to get the sailor hat our son graduated in to ad to the room this weekend!! I still have a few things packed away in boxes though, and need to find them - that the only sucky thing about moving right now, it's a temporary home while we build & I didn't want to bring everything, so a lot of our things are in storage. :( I miss seeing everything all around my home on a daily basis, all the pictures of my sailor & sailor to be, especially!!

Well, better get back to working on the new place (it's just an apartment, but it's brand new construction on the top floor of a house that our friend owns, and we helped build it so we could live here) because our son gets to come home for a visit this weekend & we're trying to get everything finished!!!!!!! Haven't seen him in person since the day after PIR, Feb 2nd.....I'm going to hug him so tight he won't be able to breathe, LOL

Did anyone else's SR, in that division, hear the same info? If so, we might be able to see a pic of them on the RTC Facebook page! :) Starting 6/7?
