~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!
Friends,
Here's a friendly "heads up" that calls might be coming in from your SRs this weekend. Please have your cell phones with you at all times, charged and ready--upstairs, downstairs, on your nightstand, out in the backyard, out with you to get the mail, in the bathroom for any reason.... If going somewhere loud, put it on "vibrate" and slip it into your pocket. If going somewhere out of range, record an outgoing message that your SR can hear and possibly leave a message for you.
Your phones could show "847", "Pay Phone", "Governement". Pick up all unfamiliar calls! If it's a sales call, please just politely tell them "No, thank you."
diannep - thank you, I did find some information on it and will write my SR and ask him what he wants to do.
EricsMom: Your SR has the chance to order the tshirts and the pictures too. If he/she doesn't, you should be able to order after PIR there on base. If your SR orders Pkg A of the photos, The Keel (yearbook) is thrown in for free.
banda: Here is a link that may help with some of the Navy lingo:
banda86, The some of the hotels show the livestream of PIR when available. They have had some difficulties with it the last couple weeks. The extra may be able to go to the chapel on base and watch it too. That is limited space, but this is a small TG so it may not be a problem.
Family members of recruits can stay at the Navy Lodge, you just put the reservation in your SRs name. It is OK to give them your recruits information.
Also, questions on the lingo...just ask what it means. I am still having to ask and look up things my son tells me and he has been in the Navy for two years. :)
banda: Never apologize for asking questions! That is what we are here for! :-)
You can stay at Navy Lodge by way of your SR. You may also be able to stay if you are with the VA, not sure, but for sure you can book in your SR's name and stay. That is the way everyone should do it if they have no military ID.
Only 4 guests per sailor will be allowed onto RTC (names on the list which is updated a week or so before PIR by your SRs). In rare cases, if there are special circumstances with "extras" where they need to be close by (such as the elderly, disabled, small children, etc), it is possible that they will allow those people onto the base to watch the Livestream in the Chapel. But I contacted RTC about this back in the Fall and the reply was that they askt all not on the list to please stay off base if possible....many of the hotels will have the Livestream of the PIR service shown in their lobby or another room, so ask at your hotel. Otherwise, you can watch it on your personal computer.
Sadly, for the past two weeks, the Livestream has not worked so hope they can work out the kinks for next week's PIR.
Hey Kit,
That's a great idea about the tuesday trivia. I set myself an alarm after missing it last tuesday. They seem to post the question around noon.
I just added information on the Flags and Pennants your SRs divisions can earn while in boot camp, and the info on t-shirts, photos, etc, to the "Pages" column here in this group.
The pages are located on this page under the member photos.
