For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello ladies, there is a RTC Facebook page. On Tuesdays they post a question and whoever gets it right first can have a picture of their SR's division. Come on ladies let's give it a try. I know all of us would like to see our SR's.

Those transferring over to GL A School will do so shortly after PIR. Takes several hours and then they will call you from a borrowed cell phone (from a student already there) or use their phone card to call from a pay phone....to pick them up for Liberty. They must return to base each night, but can bring personal items back with them then (including phones/computers).

Needznap, You can give them their cell phones at the airport. They cannot take anything back with them to the RTC.

Can their cell phone be returned to them after PIR, before they fly out to school?

Normac: I emailed Navy Lodge last week with a question and it took them a few days to answer back. But might be better to just call them direct for reservations. Remember to book in your SR's name unless you have military ID yourself.
only1dlg: Yes, A School is a lot easier emotionally for all than Bootcamp is! Contact is back then via phone and computer. So better days are coming!
