N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Anyone else have a son/daughter that's in A school for IC Fireman Recruit?

Comment by J's Wife on July 2, 2013 at 2:00pm
AMLS- my iPhone doesn't let me do private messages, so I'll send you my number later. But call chase and ask your son if he'd want to do it that way and let me know.

J's Wife:  I accepted you as a friend so we should be good.  Thanks.

Comment by AMLsMom on July 2, 2013 at 1:57pm

Oh you are so smart.  That is a great idea.  I will call Chase and see how that can be arranged.  If it can be?

Comment by J's Wife on July 2, 2013 at 1:49pm
AMLS- that's what I would think. I would just call the chase it's at and ask if it could be transferred to whatever chase bank is closest to base that can accept it. I'm not actually even sure they can transfer them but it's worth a shot. And depending what phase your son is in we might even be able to skip the POA and my husband could just sign out w him or I could sign him out and just take him to get it. It wouldn't let me send you a private message til I added you as a friend so I did that.

And these girls aren't worth it. That was awful to break up with a recruit during graduation. Not a good person. Your son will find the right one and will most likely have women dying to meet him. So by far it is her loss. Good luck.

Comment by AMLsMom on July 2, 2013 at 1:36pm

J's Wife: That is so thoughtful and really sweet of you to offer. OK, the box is in NY it's a Chase bank, so how would that work to get it to IL? It has to go to another Chase right?

Comment by J's Wife on July 2, 2013 at 1:32pm
AMLS- I know this sounds kind of far fetched and I don't know your sailor- but if you wanted to call to see if the bank will transfer the box, I would be willing to meet up with him and get a one time power of attorney on base to pull out just the cell phone and give it to him. I have access to base and am living in great lakes so as long as the bank isn't too far away, I really wouldn't mind. I know I would be very upset if my family member wasn't able to have their phone now that they're able to. I know it sounds like a long shot, but if you want to run it by him and let me know. I'll PM you my phone number.

And just in general- I agree with everyone. Forget those girls. They don't know what they have and what they gave up. But someday, those boys/men will find women who do know just how amazing they are. I just told my husband over the weekend when he was saying he felt bad about all the time he has to spend away, that I will not be someone who looses out on the commitment and relationship I have with my husband because I'm too proud to understand he has responsibilities. The boys will be down for a while, but will have an opportunity to take advantage of being single once they get to their stations. My husband was telling me all sorts of free really fun stuff they have going on (at least at the great lakes a-schools over the next couple months. So their morale should be boosted a little soon. I think J and I are actually going skydiving soon!! It's offered as one of the activities! :)
