For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I know BS is this week but he didn't tell us which day. does anyone know.

also, I know that some moms went through the trouble of validatng the 3 guest rumor....I looked at the website last night and read that 4 guests were allowed.

Lala ...any thoughts? reditrout received this info in a letter from her son...??

Hoping nothing goes wrong to change that in few days that they have left? If anyone knows when BS are for division 814, could you message me? Also...I'm confused??? I thought we had put the question about how many guests could attend behind us, but I just received a letter from my son today saying that they were told to write to their families and let them know that they could only have 3 guests. He said he actually had to submit the changes to his paper work and he had to write to let me know who he took off... Anyone have any insight about this? Could it be that only division 814 can have 3 guests and the other divisions get 4? It seems like it was mostly 814 moms that were saying that earlier....

Comment by diannep on June 20, 2013 at 1:50pm: There are 3 PFAs The first two are really just practice to see what they need to work on. The 3rd PFA is the one that must be passed, no matter what they did on the first two. The test includes the 1.5 mile run, situps, pushups. They cannot do Battlestations until they have passed all of their tests....academic and physical, like ellen said. They will keep trying until they pass them, hopefully before PIR so they can complete BattleStations and be at their PIR.

Should they not pass the final PFA before their PIR, they will stay in the FIT DIVISION, keep trying (3 times a week) and once they pass (they get to keep trying as long as they are improving), they do BattleStations with another group and head straight to A School...no PIR. So prayers that all are passing their final PFAs!
