For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by J's Wife on July 2, 2013 at 1:10pm: AMLS- can he request to have the whole safety deposit transferred to a closer branch? Did you get a Power Of Attorney before he left? You should be able to use that. Where are you guys located? I wonder if he could get a power of attorney signed and notarized then mail it to you and you sign and notarize it.

Comment by AMLsMom on July 2, 2013 at 12:24pm: Diannep: Thank you. He locked the phone in a safety dep box back home. I can't get access to it. So it is a total waste of money. Even if I suspend it I still have to pay the monthly bill. It stinks. If it's suspended they will only suspend service but not the charges....

But have to say...better that these guys find this out now...that these girls may not be "military" material....then to have it happen when they are deployed. If the girls couldn't make it without the bfs while just in bootcamp, no way could they make it through a 8-10 mo deployment.

Comment by diannep on July 2, 2013 at 11:20am: AMLsmom: Call them and ask if you can put the phone on "military hold" if he won't be using it for a while. However, since he is allowed a phone in A School, they may not be willing to do this. Can't you mail him the phone? Or...are you trying not to have to pay the monthly charge? I would try the military hold option...but if that doesn't work, seems he will have to pay for monthly service via his contract....or.....break the contract and pay lots of money in cancellation charges.

They are allowed to have their cell phones but they are very busy. My boyfriend got to call me a few times Sunday but the calls were short since he had stuff to do. Yesterday we got to talk for around an hour and a half! (: It was amazing after hearing almost nothing from him for two months.
