Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Navymom972, that's exactly what my son said too. I've been writing a letter every day.

My older son who was also in the Navy had a really awesome suggestion that I thought I'd pass on to all of you... he said that one SR's mom and girlfriend would write a daily journal. They would just write down every little thing they did...ie.. went to the grocery store today......just every little thing they did. My son said that what we don't realize is that they are cut out from the outside world, so any little thing going on out here, no matter how small is awesome news to them. It makes them less homesick...it's their link back to us........so yes, write, write, write.....it will get them through

AND I hope you all have a very, very happy Mothers day

hi all... just wanted to share with you that the one important thing that my son said when he called was to write keep writing and then write some more.  He even asked his little sister and brother to write too.... whatever you do don't stop writing.  The really look forward to mail call and being able to get a letter from home makes it a whole lot easier.

25NavyMom..... believe me I understand... I have never gone two weeks (much less a day) not hearing from my son.. and I have really been struggling these past two weeks.. so it was nice to not only hear his voice but to KNOW he's ok.. and I'm sure yours is good too.. you won't miss the next one... hang tight!

Thank you NavyMom1972 ..I cried for like an hour straight. What gives me comfort is that he talked to his dad. His dad mentioned he sounded really good and he was a little homesick but good. I called my ex twice so he could tell again word for word what he said.. ;)
Would have been nice to hear his voice..after 2 weeks.
