For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

He stopped training at training week 3/day 2 and resumed training a week later with the next PIR group, in a division at the same point of training that he left at. We also already had our tickets...nope, not Southwest either (they charge no change fee) so we were going to incur a change fee. I decided to wait to rebook. Waited a couple of weeks. The change fee was to be $150/ticket (we had 2).....but thankfully the flights were cheaper on the new dates, so it was only $89/per ticket more. But still....ugh!

No problem changing the hotel. There is no penalty for that when you book the hotel directly (i.e., you didn't go through a discount travel site....not sure how those work).

If your son said that they(division) are being threatened with being delayed in graduation, it could be a motivational tool. They don't "asmo" divisions, but they do asmo individuals (this can be for illness/injury/etc also).

I hope it doesn't happen to your SR, but should it, it is workable. Hang in there....

As far as a whole Division being delayed...RTC does not do that. Individual recruits may be asmo'd but not whole divisions.

From the RTC FAMILY GUIDE:

INTERRUPTIONS IN TRAINING

Once a division’s graduation date has been set it will not change. An individual Recruit’s graduation is dependent on successful completion of the training requirements. Should your Recruit experience a disruption in training due to an academic or physical test failure, injury or illness, they will receive the opportunity to call the person of their choice to advise her/him of their situation.

The RDCs also use the Asmo thing to push people along even harder.
