N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yup I got my call!!!!!! Early this AM around 7:30am... The feeling I got was so overwhelming... After reading so many other moms posts, I remembered to tell him how proud of him I am. Made sure to throw that in like 10x. And, didn't mention once that I was so down that I could barely work.  And that my heart ached with him missing from the house.  Kept it really light.  First thing he asked was where was his little brother and sister?  They were so happy to hear from him that they couldn't stop crying.  He assured them that he was alright and that he'd see them soon.   I asked about the food and he actually said it's really good.  I was worried cause he's so picky.  He said he's happy and that they had swimming yesterday.  He said he's caught a cold because of the vaccinations.  But, he's fine and won't let it stop him. He's in his blue "camos today" ( cause I asked, lol).  He sounds great and that's all that matters.  Best Mother's Day present ever..... 25Navymom, I'm so sorry you missed the call... Keep that phone in your pocket, no pockets? In your bra, your sock whatever it takes.  You'll get the next one for sure ;0)

It is so wonderful to hear their voice and to have them say a little bit about what their day is like. Where is everyone SR going to for A school?

MarcsMom:  He DOES know the cell number, right?  I mean, we are all so used to just clicking on a name!

Comment by Sailor's Mom Joanne on May 11, 2013 at 7:08pm

thank you...my call will probably come next week. I cannot wait.

Comment by Navymom21 on May 11, 2013 at 6:58pm

For all of you who got your call, I am so happy for you. I still have not received a call; my son left 5/2. Is it too early. I got his form letter today with PIR on 6/28.

@diannep

EXACTLY, yes, I have had those conversations esp. with lazy and naive people, I know that sounds mean but I am sick of the lazy and naive, I will get over it, and I don't say anything  They are innocent, they have no idea how hard we are working or how hard our children are working to give them the privilege of being so lazy and naive, if we told them it would go right over their heads. I know though and we have a lot to be proud of.  My son called his gf today, she said he sounds happy and confident. :)

Comment by Marc's mom (Judi) on May 11, 2013 at 3:05pm

Well, I don't know why, but he called the house phone. I reminded him to always call the cell, because there is NO WAY in this world that I want to ever miss a call.....so after I hung up I wrote another letter to him, reminding him to please, please, please only call my cell phone. I keep that in my back pocket at all times.....and I am taking it in the bathroom when I shower, and putting it under my pillow when I sleep........

His poor GF missed him though. She is sick to her stomach for not having her phone with her. Poor thing. I know how bad that feels, happened to me when my other boys were in.... I told her that she has to do what I do, keep that phone attached to her like it's another limb!!!

I got a call around 7:30 this morning. I missed the first call because I was SO tired the ringing didn't wake me up but he called me back and I got to talk to him. I was so happy to hear his voice and be able to tell him I love him. It wasn't a long call, but anything is better than nothing. (:
