Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ditto, Deedee! It is a beautiful day here at home, and all I can think about is how much my son has expressed how much he is missing his Cape Cod summer. He has encouraged his sister to soak up every second of it before she leaves for GL in August. All the complaining about how there is nothing to do here has become the longing for home, the beach and the comfort. Can't wait to see my boy...ahem, man.

Yesterday, my sailor celebrated her 29th birthday! It was the 1st time that I didn't talk to her on her birthday, but only 23 days til PIR!

diannep - I have heard the same and I cannot wait to visit. He is more of a country bumpkin, so the city life of Chicago has been driving him crazy. He is bummed that he got shore duty first, but I think once he starts fishing and hiking, he will probably get over it.

I have been enjoying a visit with my son (when he is not with his friends). He just finished A school May 7th and is on his way to his C school in Washington State. He has shore duty there for the next two years. It has been a nice distraction and is making time go by much faster. I wish he could have stayed in Great Lakes until his sister's PIR, but I would not want him to be on hold any longer than needed. I did receive a hilarious letter from my daughter and it was nice to have my Sailor here to explain what she was describing.
