~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks for the additional info Craig! Haven't heard the story about the men on the subs so that was interesting too! LOL Can't wait to share that with Cole, if he hasn't heard it yet.

Good Morning!

Joshua - If recruits stand up at "The moment of truth", they more than likely will be coming home.

Tammy - That is really cool!  I haven't had anyone on my website ever get that rating yet, but again, it's brand new.  The Information Technician on a sub, called ITS is one of the newest ratings in the Navy.  It just came out and you won't find much info on it.

Here is the official message when it finally was established. Please understand all Navy messages are in capital letters.  The reason is way back in the 1930's through 1980's the Navy only had teletype machines.  They had no ability to have small letters because the machines took up too much room as it was.

Here is the rating sheet which will tell you about the rating:

https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/its.pdf

Lastly, in case your wondering, there are no females enlisted sailors on submarines yet.  It's just a bunch of guys.  So we surface ship sailors firmly believe that 120 men leave on submarines and 60 couples return.  I can tell you for a fact that this is a lie!  There was never more than 47 due to fights and breakups.... j/k...

Glad to see that my daughter has kept busy writing!  I got 5 letters (divided in 2 envelopes), my mom and sister-in-law each got a letter, and my son and daughter got individual letters!  How very exciting for everyone.

The letters to me were bittersweet.  Honestly, I liked the call on Saturday much better. She sounded so strong and confident.  It is hard to hear in the letters that she is physically sore, that the food is not good, and that they have had IT twice last week.  :-(   She is strong and I know she will  continue to work hard and get through this.  It is hard knowing that she still has 40 days left.  She said two girls have already left....so sad.

I agree wholeheartedly with JoshuamomNV!!  You will always be there for her and the Navy PIR is really a once in a lifetime event in the Navy career path.  I hope she opens her eyes now to what she is doing here.  May our Lord God move her heart to allow eileenc's daughter to welcome her mom to her 07/03/2013 PIR!!
