Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yayyyy! Rosa91!! You've got your letter, now time to send out the 10 or 12 letters you've already done!! :D If you're using the copy paper from Walmart, about 5 of those in a long envelope comes in at 1 oz for one 46 cent/Forever stamp.

To ellen0502. My SR is in Division 250. Originally he was told he was in Ship 11, but it was changed to Ship 13, at least that is what he told me.

We have posted your Division Discussions up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here...you all have developed such a nice group!
Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-80 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

I agree with Diannep about OPSEC. I am an admin on the facebook groups and we screen those joining the groups but you can never be too safe when it comes to our Sailors :) Always remember safety first. And anytime you post information on any social media page ask yourself who might see this and am I okay with that? I know sometimes we are just so proud of our kids we get excited and forget to be careful. We want you to post on here and on facebook and get to know those who are going through this experience with you we just don't want you to say too much that may get unwanted attention on your recruit :) If you are ever unsure about something you want to post please feel free to send me a message on here or on facebook and I will help you as much as I can :)

Hi eileenc@cox.net my son is on ship 12 DIV 248. I think their ships are grouped together. If you do find a group discussion please let me know...I would like to join as well

to NavyMom1207 - My daughter is also on Ship 12 DIV 247. I would love a group discussion for that! Also want to know how to navigate this site a little better. I can't find things that I found by accident and want to get back to - like the list of PIR dates and times...and possibly when my daughter would be heading to A school in San Antonio after PIR.
