~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

If your sailor is staying in GL for A School, they will have about an hour on Wednesday after PIR with you before they have to go back to their ship and move over to the TSC side. This process takes several hours, so keep your phone handy, they will call you when they can leave base for the rest of the day. They should also have liberty on Thursday-Sun, from approx 6am to 10pm (hours can vary).

They may also have duty at some point that weekend, but it is usually only for a few hours. You sailor will be briefed on his liberty hours before he leaves base on Wednesday. Be mindful of when they have to return to base each night. They cannot be late. :)

Friends,

Also want to let you know that you can put your SR's cell phone on Military Suspension for the 2 months that he wiil be in Boot Camp.  Just contact your cell phone carrier after your SR has made his/her "I'm Here" call and the phone is on its way back to you in The Box.  You can do this for free and it will save on the monthly charges on that phone.  You can re-activate it for the day before PIR.  I was able to easily re-activate my daughter's cell phone online at Verizon Wireless.

My son arrived in GL on Tuesday, May 7th.  I spoke with his recruiter & his PIR date is July 3rd.  I'm so happy that maybe we can spend some extra time with him then!  I am so thankful for the information on N4M and everyone sharing their experiences is really helpful!

I saw a note on another page showing that TG 34 starts with Division 247, which is my daughter's Division!!  I am so excited.  She arrived in Great Lakes on May 7th and I got her FedEx box yesterday.  Still awaiting her letter, but her recruiter looked up her information for me both Friday and yesterday and said she is listed as Division 247/Ship 12.

My son arrived in GL on Monday May 6th, I received the box on Friday May 10th now just awaiting the form letter.  But I also figured this will be his PIR date 9 Fridays would make it July 5th, but with the holiday I thought it might be 7/12, Wish I knew for sure would love to make travel arrangements.

Good afternoon.  I have received my letter from him and know that he graduates July 3.  I have not gotten the box yet but I am still looking for it.  I am excited but so very nervous.  I hate not being able to talk to him and knowing he is ok but do understand that this is what he has to do.  He is supposed to go to A school away from GL and look forward to seeing him a little before he leaves for that.  He has a younger brother who is telling me that this is taking too long. He is only 9 and a 15 minute trip is too long.  I can't wait myself.  Thanks for all the information because this helps alot to understand all that he is doing while there.

I look forward to talking to others that are going thru this too.

Zach'sWife;  Yes, that happens every now and then...a Wed PIR.  They do it before Thanksgiving too.  Since the 4th falls on a Thursday this year, that kind of complicated things.  But hoping it will mean more Liberty time for you all with your sailors!

Those staying in GL for A School will have 5 days with their sailors!  WOW!  They will get daytime Liberty each day (have to be back on base at night).  So lucky ladies who have GL A School sailors!  Those flying out hopefully won't go until Friday so you will get an extra day as well.  Usually the sailors fly out the day after PIR in most cases. Your SRs won't know travel arrangements until the week of graduation, most likely.
