~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Brooke, correct....very close to RTC. You made a good choice! Did you book in your SR's name or do you have mlitary ID? If you don't and you booked in your own name, you can change it now or they will change it when you arrive.
Just made my reservations for PIR at the Navy Lodge. Only $66 per night, no tax. From what I've read it's only a 5 minute drive to the drill deck.
Good morning! Sorry I haven't been on much lately, I have been fighting that nasty virus going around.
I will be posting your division discussion sometime late this evening!
Congrats on the calls!
Good Morning!
Friends,
"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders
You have done. The things You planned for
us no one can recount to You; were I to speak
and tell of them, they would be too many
to declare."
Psalm 40:5
Good morning!
jannykay: It is amazing how the Bootcamp experience can "draw out of them" things that have been bottled up for years. They have been taken away from all that is familiar to them, they have no possessions except what is issued to them, they are told when to eat, use the bathroom, march, etc....it is a very different way of life for them. They learn to rely on each other (shipmates), hence the reason that so many become such wonderful lifelong friends. I have read many things on this site over the past almost 5 yrs where SRs write or say things they never have said before to families....usually about how much they appreciate all they have done. I guess it is a lesson for us that when we peel away the material life that so many of us get caught up in, and have time to concentrate on what truly matters, we are more in touch with our feelings!
Good Morning All !
@ diannep ... thank you for the encouraging words!! This is a new turn in the relationship with my oldest daughter - - who throughout her youth she kept it all inside - - this new grown and mature person who is reaching out a bit is shifting the ground a bit.... Transitions - - lots of them this year and each one with its own challenge.
jannykay: You said the right thing! Always positive words, knowing she can do it. They need to hear that over and over again. Remind her that the RDCs are pretty tough in the beginning, trying to get the best out of each SR, but they become more and more encouraging as time goes on.
Got a call tonight - almost missed it! My daughter sounded good - - worried a bit about having 3 teeth extracted on Tuesday and a bit concerned about her running time. Very excited that small arms training coming up. What are best tips for encouraging her? Have told her I am proud and that RTC is skilled at training and that her body will respond to the training, etc.... This is partly new territory for us since she has actually shared the worry with me - - historically, she has not been one to open up! Don't want to misstep ....
