OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

thanks for the nice welcome!  I am trying to use my laptop more but I'm mostly on my phone & it's easier on the laptop,

My son is in the band.  He is playing baritone but prefers percussion.

We're in Texarkana, TX.  That is right on the Texas/ Arkansas border.  My brother is a Retired Sr Chief & served his last several years at RTC.

Welcome, lucynurse!  The best way to learn this site is just to experiment on it!  Are you doing it from a phone or computer?

diannep,

San Diego is one of the best places to live and work in California and the housing prices reflect that~~  Gorgeous being right at the Pacific Ocean --- and hardly any humidity!!

Elaina,

You will be able to meet with your new Sailor at either O'Hare or Midway Airport in the early morning hours of Saturday--2:00 am and on.  You can give them their cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, ac adapter, own comfy underwear, maybe some favortie treats from your area--all to be stuffed into their black Navy-issued backpack.  Then you can get a gate pass to go through the security checkpoint with them and explore the food places and shops with them and see them off at the boarding gate!!  It is truly a very memorable time with them!  Take pics!  Bring state issued Id, school id, birth certificates or social security cards for everyone who plans to be there~~

Hope that the MeetandGreet goes well, Lala.  SO glad that you are enjoying your visit!  Stay off of the interstates though!  HA!

I have always heard that San Diego is one of the most wonderful parts of California for its great weather!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on June 7, 2014 at 1:02am

Hi everyone, still on vacation with my daughter and grand baby in CA. We went to the Zoo today and had a great time.

The best part of CA is by far the weather. Warm days but not too hot, always a breeze blowing, cool nights and no humidity and not a drop of rain since I got here. The worst part, OMG the interstates!!!! It is so hard to know where you are going even with GPS because the exit numbers are not clearly marked. There is no warning or signs saying what exit is coming up. I don't know how you all get to where you are going lol Tomorrow or today depending on what time zone you are in right now lol is our Southern CA/San Diego Navy Mom Meet and greet. We have 25+ people coming and I am so excited to meet them. :)
