N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

zacsfan:  Welcome to the emotional journey of Bootcamp!  Sadness and missing them one moment, elation the next when a call or letter comes in!  Congrats!

All.. Just wanted to share that my SR Ship 13, Div 216, called today... He said it was "Mand. 2nd Call"  I don't know, and really glad I didn't miss the call....mel0331..I guess the "shout out" was from my SR :)  He had nothing but great things to say about your SR.  I pray everything works out for your SR !

Zacsfan.., glad you are feeling better. I received 4 letters today and am on cloud nine. The first letter was not a happy one but the fourth letter was so good! God does answer prayers!! Hugs to all of you!

Thank you for letting me vent! I actually got a call from him today while I was at work! God's work at hand- I feel so much better! He said he made squad leader. I am so amazingly proud of my SR! I am thankful for whoever made the decision for them to be allowed to call. He sounds so much better than he did previously! I got a letter today too. He said he shined his boots and they look really good and I am thinking who is this kid and where was the Navy five years ago! Happy mama!

Zacsfan, he is a lucky young man to have someone who cares so deeply. As far as I'm concerned vent away! I think that is one reason this site was developed. When I miss my son, I remind myself of what a great opportunity this is for him and how bright his future is because of it. I also remind myself that this is only temporary, 36 days to go. After this he will have access to his cell phone the internet, Skyping and so on. I also think back to when my siblings joined the service so many years ago. They didn't have this and were shipped out for long deployments with only US mail service. I have a new found respect for how my mother felt during their entire enlistments. She was an extremly strong woman. We can do this!

zacsfan,

When I come to this site, it is a comfort to me because I get to talk to all my friends who also have Sailors separated from them and spread out all over the place!!  We share with each other and cheer each other up.  It's normal to have feelings that go up and down.  We're here for you!!
