N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just a Heads Up....when my son was there, his division won the Hall of Fame flag (highest honor!).  Therefore, they got an extra hour of Liberty on PIR Day and didn't have to return until 9 pm.  Of course, they know that if they are "on time" they are "late" in Navy jargon, so he had us get him back on base about 40 minutes early.  It takes a while for them to walk back to their ships and they cannot be late!

zacsfan:  I agree with CatMom.  Chances are that he will be flying out on Saturday, although occasionally they fly on Sunday.  He won't know for sure until right before PIR.  Try and book your own return on Sunday if possible just in case you get extra time with your new sailor.

Good Morning All !

I should introduce myself.  My son was at Bootcamp back in 2009.  I have remained on the PIR groups since then since I love helping here!  He has now been honorably discharged and is trying to complete his Bachelors....he is waiting for his final grades for this quarter right now...and if good, he will have graduated!  Fingers crossed as he had 2 very tough classes this quarter and he doesn't know if he did well enough....

Anyway, we N4Moms veterans are on here to help you with any and all questions.  Please ask any time you like!  But also, please read the "Pages" section above and to the right on this page because there is lots of info there.

zacsfan,

When your SR has liberty after PIR, he will have from 10:30 am till about 8:00 pm (or earlier) with you, then he has to return to RTC to pack up to get transported to either Midway Airport or O'Hare in the early morning hours of Saturday morning to board his flight to A school.   You can meet him at the airport (most likely Midway from past groups) at about 3:00 am to give him his cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, ac adapter, own comfy underwear, maybe some favorite snacks from your hometown--this all goes into his black Navy issued backpack.  Anything else will need to be shipped to him at A school.  You will be able to get a gate pass to go with him to the boarding gate, so everyone in your party will need their government issued id, school id, or birth certificate.

Bring a set of comfy clothes for him to relax in the hotel room with you.  He will most likely want to take a long, private shower too!!
